Scoring System

The books reviewed at UIDesign.net are interpreted with a view to the influence they will have and impact they may have upon improved user experience with software and software controlled devices. The purpose of reviewing and promoting books at this web site is to identify the current state-of-the-art and encourage practitioners to adopt the state-of-the-art techniques.

5/5

A book which significantly improves or advances the State-of-the-art in Interaction Design or advocates "best practice" in a convincing, readable and understandable fashion. A book which will lead to significantly better user experience with software.

4/5

A book which didn't score 5 due to some flaw such as aging content, not sufficiently leading edge, poorly written, verbose, repetitive or lacking completeness. A book which has a good chance of leading to significantly better user experience with software or a book which adds enough to state-of-the-art that others should read out of literary interest.

3/5

A book which is interesting in part but is likely to have little more than a neutral effect on the practical development of software and improved user experience.

2/5

A poor book on the topic which is severely flawed but holds some interest for the dedicated professional in the business. Not worth reading by regular developers who worry about getting software finished as best they can.

1/5

A book which is not worth wasting time on reading. No new material and a lot of bad material.

0/5

A book full of bad advice which will have a negative impact on Interaction Design and lead to a poorer user experience.
